Back in January, we reported how retailers were suffering a huge loss in sales. However, we’re now pleased to inform you that retail sales rose by 2.1% in February compared with January.

The Office for National Statistics explained that the rise was due to large sales in computers and technology, as well as good bought online.

Compared with February last year, sales were up by 2.6% meaning that British consumers spent a total of £6.3bn per week.

Earlier this week, the British Retail Consortium released figures that confirm the sales bounce, reporting sales up by 2.7% year-on-year in February.

Whilst this news is excellent for all retailers, it’s unlikely that it will prevent the country from slipping into a triple-dip recession.
